Cowley College to open West Side Center in Wichita
Continuing to draw a large percentage of students from the north part
of its service area and Sedgwick County, Cowley College will open a
new center on the West Side of Wichita on June 1.
The center, which will be called the Cowley College West Side Center,
is located at 8821 West 21 Street, Suite 400. The building, which is
3,000 square feet, is on the southwest corner of Tyler and 21st Street.
The West Side Center will have two employees on hand to help students
enroll for online courses and provide financial aid information and information
about courses offered at the Cowley College campuses. They will also
conduct Asset Testing and provide future instruction based upon what
the need in a certain area may be.
Cowley College president, Dr. Patrick J. McAtee, felt there was a need
for the college to be visible on the west side of Wichita.
“We felt we needed to do a better job of communicating with that segment
of our service area and reach out to those students interested in Cowley,” McAtee
said. “Whether a student is wanting to take classes online or at one
of our other campuses, we can keep them informed on programs and services we
offer.”
The college’s e-Learning Center opened on the east side of Wichita
last June and has online and hybrid course offerings. The e-Learning
Center is located at 4900 E. Pawnee, Suite 106.
With the opening of its West Side Center, Cowley College will have two
locations in Wichita, two in Mulvane, and two in Winfield to go along
with its main campus in Arkansas City.
“It will be interesting to track the contacts made from the West Side
Center and see where those students ultimately end up at Cowley,” McAtee
said.
The college plans on holding an open house in June to celebrate the opening
of the West Side Center.
