Cowley receives grant
to expand MICT training
Cowley College’s Allied Health Department was recently notified that its
MICT program got a Perkins Reserve Fund Grant from the Kansas Board of Regents
for $65,800 to be used to expand MICT training at Butler Community College.
The grant will allow the MICT program to purchase equipment needed at the satellite
location.
“This grant affords us the opportunity to better meet the critical shortage
of paramedics in Kansas,” said Slade Griffiths, Department Chair of the
Allied Health Education/EMS Education Program Director. “In addition, it
has allowed us to form a collaborative partnership with Butler Community College
to teach at their campus in Andover. We are very thankful to the Kansas Board
of Regents for this opportunity to better meet the needs of students in particular
and Kansans in general.”
Sheree Utash, Cowley College vice president of academic affairs, praised the
work done by Griffiths in securing the grant.
“Slade Griffiths is to be commended for his work on the development and
vision for this grant,” Utash said. “The college is very fortunate
to receive this Perkins Reserve Fund Grant from the Kansas Board of Regents.”
