Guidelines and Timeline
Guidelines
How to enter:
1. Student artists who will graduate in May 2011 are eligible to compete
for scholarships. All High School students -- senior, junior, sophomore, & freshmen
-- are invited to enter the Prodigy Art Awards competition.
2.
No individual
student may enter more
than 5 pieces in the competition. (The portfolio counts as a single piece).
3. Work submitted must have been completed from September 2009 to February 2011.
4. Each submitted artwork must have two show labels that are completed online,
typewritten or legibly printed. One label will be attached to the exhibit and
the other label will be displayed.

writing.
5. Complete the prodigy inventory sheet.

6. Students MUST attend Fine Arts Day or their exhibits will be
disqualified from competition.
Disqualifications:
Works will be disqualified if they are:
1. Not matted or improperly matted.
2. Not being ‘ready-to-hang’.
3. Plagiarized.
The judges’ decisions will be final.
Preparing Your Entries:
1. Select the correct media category on the entry form and
complete the inventory sheet.
2. Cowley College is not responsible for breakage, damage or loss
of artwork. Fragile artwork is entered at the risk of the artist.
3. Drawings, graphic art, prints, and other flat pieces must be
matted and covered with acetate. These pieces will be hung with
clips from the top edge. Do not use glass.
4. Paintings on canvas should have the edges of the frame painted
black or a neutral color or may be covered with lathe board. Paintings
should be covered in acetate or paper to prevent damage in handling.
Paintings should have hangers attached to the back which will allow
the painting to be hung. These should be attached in a manner which
will allow the painting to hang flat
Timeline
Delivery of Entries:
February 16, from 9am-5pm through
February 26, from 9am-5pm
(This deadline is non-negotiable for both hand-delivered and mailed
entries.)
Pick Up of Works Not Selected:
March 2, from 2:30 pm-5pm
Prodigy Winners and Exhibition Opening:
Wednesday, March 3
Last Day of Exhibition: Tuesday, March 23
Mailed Artwork: Artwork to be mailed back to the artist/school
must include a label and return postage.
Artwork not picked up:
Artwork not picked up by April 23, 2011 will become the property
of Cowley College.
