What
is Angel? |
 |
ANGEL is
a Web-based course management system that allows faculty to create
Web sites for courses that enhance or deliver course instruction.
|
 |
Where
do I find my course or log into to? |
 |
Click on
the eLearning
Students link
that is on every page on the right side of the top banner. You
will be directed to the Online Classes login page.
Click on the
Log into Angel graphic to proceed to login.
Read the Student Login Guide,
which explains this process step by step with pictures. |
 |
When
should I log into my course? |
 |
You may
NOT log into any of your online courses until the first day of
the semester.
All
courses whether 16-week or 8-week online courses will begin on
the same date as traditional classes. If you are in a 6-week
internet computer class, check the course schedule for starting
date. DO NOT PROCRASTINATE! |
 |
Where
do I get my books? |
 |
Books and
access codes for your online course(s) may be purchased from the
Cowley
College eBookstore, from the Cowley Bookstore in
Arkansas City or at the Southside
Bookstore in Wichita.
|
 |
Is there
an orientation I can attend to have some of my questions answered? |
 |
We offer several help sessions prior to the
beginning of the semester to help you get started or answer any
of your questions. If you are new to online learning, it
is highly recommended you attend one of these help sessions.
Click here to access the Online Orientation schedule
and description.
|
 |
What is an access code? |
 |
Some
of our courses require an access code to be able to access the
course materials online.
These are like buying a study guide online from the publisher. This
special software has allowed our instructor to make changes to the
content from the publisher to make it their own course.
MEDICAL TERMINOLOGY & PRINCIPLES OF NUTRITION are the only classes
that REQUIRES AN ACCESS CODE. FOR THE REST OF THE ONLINE COURSES,
YOU CAN GET LOGGED ON WITHOUT IT.
If you are uncertain, check with the bookstore or
e-mail your instructor. |
 |
When should
I contact my instructor? |
 |
You
should contact your instructor a week or two before the semester
starts.
You will find instructor
contact information on the
Cowley web site. Here you will find phone numbers and e-mail
addresses of the instructors.
Phone or e-mail your instructor and introduce yourself. This will
be the start of your course because your instructors want to get
to know you.
If you enroll after the semester starts, contact your instructor
immediately and log into your course right away.
Your instructor is looking forward to getting to know you. |
 |
Can I start
my course(s) before the first day of class? |
 |
We
offer several help sessions prior
to the beginning of the semester to help you get started or answer
any of your questions. If you are new to online learning,
it is highly recommended you attend one of these help sessions.
|
 |
When
I have trouble, who do I contact first? |
 |
First
always, contact your instructor. Then,
if they can't help you, contact the WebCT
Helpdesk for
technical problems or the Director of eLearning for
general information or concerns you may have. |
 |
What do
I do when I can't get logged in or
my access code doesn't work? |
 |
If
you are having problems logging on, first see First
Password. If you are still not able to log on, contact
the WebCT
Helpdesk.
DO THIS RIGHT AWAY!! DON'T
WAIT! We need to help you get started. Again, DO
NOT PROCRASTINATE!! We want to help you. |
 |
Do I ever
attend class? |
 |
Many
of our online classes are requiring that you meet for finals or
other exams. Should distance prevent your attending a Cowley site,
we will work with you to establish a proctoring situation.
To determine if your course meets in person, find the time and
place, go to Class
Schedules, select the semester and the eLearning mode.
Under the title of the course in bright red you will see meeting
times and possible software requirements for each course, anything
in red is required. |
 |
Can I finish
early if I put more hours in during the week? |
 |
No, all
classes will be handled on a traditional format for release of
materials (assignments, tests, etc.) to students. Discussion
groups, chat rooms, group work will be an important part of these
classes. However, some work may be able to be done on a self-paced
format. |
 |

assignments handled? |

Uploading electronic files
to a drop box is a convenient way to submit assignments to your
instructor. The Drop Box accepts virtually any type of electronic
file including word processing documents, images, web pages, and
more.
Note:
When uploading electronic files from a Macintosh
computer, it is important to add the proper file extension to the
file name (e.g. .doc, .jpg, .htm, etc.) before uploading the file.
To submit an assignment to a drop box:
- Log into your ANGEL course and click the Lessons
tab.
- Navigate to your drop box and click the drop box
title or icon.
- Click the Browse button, locate the file you want
to upload, and click Open.
- Type a title for the file in the Title textbox.
- Click Upload File. A File Upload Successful page
appears on the screen.
- Click the OK button.

 |
How
are tests and quizzes handled? |
 |
Most of the classes
require tests and quizzes using the Assessment tool in ANGEL. Instructions
