The Medical Transcription Associate
of Applied Science (AAS) degree will prepare the student
to enter the workforce as an entry-level medical transcriptionist.
The well-qualified transcriptionist will also gain proficiencies
in written and oral communications, as well as word processing,
spreadsheet, and database management software programs. Students
will acquire skills in proofreading, document formatting, computations,
and administrative support. Professionalism and flexibility are
also stressed in the program, as employers are looking for employees
who exhibit these characteristics.
“Students should take
ALH1660 Medical Transcription and then take ALH5248 Medical Transcription
Field Work Experience during a later semester. These courses
should NOT be taken in the same semester.”
