This course is approved for 45 contact hours applicable for RN, LPN, or LMHT re-licensure.
The
Nursing Program through Pratt Community College has received
certificates of excellence from the Kansas State Board of Nursing
for 2007.
In the last 7 years, students in the LPN and
RN programs have scored above both state and national averages.
This is especially significant because in 2004, 2005, and 2007
passing standards increased, and in fall 2005 the program was expanded
by forming a partnership with Cowley College. All of the
pre-requisites required for a nursing degree are offered at Cowley
College, while Pratt Community College provides the technical nursing
classes at Cowley’s Winfield Campus.

Cowley College’s Allied Health Department was recently
notified that it’s MICT program got a Perkins Reserve Fund
Grant from the Kansas Board of Regents for $65,800 to be used
to expand MICT training at Butler Community College.
The grant will allow the MICT program to purchase equipment needed
at the satellite location.
“This grant affords us the opportunity to better meet the critical shortage
of paramedics in Kansas,” said Slade Griffiths, Department Chair of the
Allied Health Education/EMS Education Program Director. “In addition,
it has allowed us to form a collaborative partnership with Butler Community
College to teach at their campus in Andover. We are very thankful to the Kansas
Board of Regents for this opportunity to better meet the needs of students
in particular and Kansans in general.”
