This student activity was incorporated by the Kansas State Department of Education to showcase quality teaching and learning at the community college level. AEC is similar to College Bowl or high school High-Q.

Highlights: In the spring semester of each year, students participate in scrimmages and regional and state competitions with other community colleges in Kansas. At the state competitions, student teams have the opportunity to win from $500 to $2000.

Requirements: Students who are interested in and have the ability to recall large amounts of information on subjects including mathematics, humanities, natural and social sciences can participate. The state requires that participants be currently enrolled in at least six hours, carry a 2.0 GPA, and must be seeking an associates degree.

Credits: Students are eligible for two years participation and receive a maximum of two hours independent study. These hours apply toward graduation credit in the humanities.

Financial Assistance: Grants-in-aid are offered yearly. These grants pay for books and tuition and require students to participate in all official scrimmages and competitions.

GPA Requirement: 3.0
Scholarship covers tuition and books
