A student who applies for work study is not guaranteed a position. Funds available for work study are not sufficient to accommodate all requests. Students should apply early in the school year to make direct contact with those areas they are interested in.
Federal Work Study
- Students interested in working on campus must first
apply for federal aid by completing a FAFSA. International students
are exempt from this requirement. A work study application must be
completed.
- Eligibility for federal work study will be determined
by the Financial Aid Office based on information provided by the FAFSA.
- Campus work study supervisors are provided access
to the list of eligible applicants. The supervisor is responsible
for interviewing, hiring, and evaluating their work study and must
submit a Work Study Hiring Sheet to the Dean of Enrollment and Retention
Services for final approval before the student begins working.
- Students selected for work study must complete payroll
information in the office of Enrollment and Retention Services.
- Once the work study hiring sheet has been submitted
by the supervisor and approved by the Dean of Enrollment and Retention
Services and the payroll paperwork is complete, the student will
be authorized to clock work study hours. Students working in an area
where CLAWS is accessible should clock their hours electronically.
Other students must complete a paper timesheet. The record of hours
must be submitted to the Financial Aid Office each month by the due
date in order for the student to receive payment on the last working
day of the month.
Institutional Work Study
Limited institutional funds are available to
employ students who may not qualify for federal work study funds. To
apply for these funds, a student must follow the same process as for
Federal Work Study.
