Federal
Pell Grant
The Pell Grant is a federal program designed to provide financial assistance
to those who need it to attend post secondary educational institutions.
The amount of the Pell Grant is determined on the basis of the resources
of the student, as well as that of the student’s family. The Pell
Grant does not require repayment.
You will be eligible for a grant if
you meet several criteria:
- You are a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen
- You are registered
with Selective Service (if required)
- You are attending a participating
college
- You are working toward a degree or certificate
- You are
making satisfactory academic progress
- You do not owe a refund on a
federal grant or you are not in default on a federal education loan,
AND
- You have financial need, as determined by the results
of your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
SEOG
The Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG) is for students
of exceptional financial need and is intended as a supplement to the Federal
Pell Grant. Students must show eligibility for a Pell Grant before being
considered for an SEOG. These awards do not have to be repaid and will
be determined based on financial need, availability of funds and satisfactory
progress in the classroom. The award recipients are determined by the Financial
Aid Office. Students do not apply directly for these grants.
Student
Loans
Think that there's only one kind of loan available at Cowley? Cowley
actually provides different loans for students, depending on their financial
need and circumstances. Stafford Loans are available to students who
are enrolled in and attending a minimum of six (6) credit hours. The
loan may be subsidized or unsubsidized, depending on federal eligibility.
Student loans must be repaid. Subsidized Stafford loans are based on
financial need. Unsubsidized Stafford loans are not based on need.
